Dirty Bird 08/28/2008

Our "Nate Bird" was a dirty bird today.........he took a dip in a mud puddle on the playground.  When the school called around noon today and said he was wet and muddy and needed a change of clothes, they weren't kidding.  Thankfully we live right across the street from the school and I was over there lickity split with a fresh change of garments.  Where there is mud....there are little boys rolling around in it!!!
On a cleaner note:  Gabe and Nate tested for their first yellow stripe (of 3) for their white belts in Karate.  They passed!  Yippee!  Dylan already has his and will test for his second one next week.

Who Knew 08/26/2008

My mistake!  I didn't know telling your 8 year boy (who plays Guitar Hero, SingStar, and listens to rock music) that "You Rock!" could possibly be an embarrassing statement.  Well if you put it on a little note  signed "love, mom" and slip it into his lunch bag, this is cause for embarrassment, or so I am told.  Apparently last time I did this (two years ago) he asked me not to do it again, i guess it slipped my mind.  When I slipped a note in each of the twins lunches I naturally thought to give Dylan one too.  I guess this is ANOTHER sign of the times, he is growing up!

I read this article on a news page today.  It's nothing new or earth shattering, it just re-affirms the need for responsible, active parenting and guardianing (if that's even a word) Read it here.
The boys are doing good.  I've gotten to meet with their teachers over the last two evenings and they have very good, positive things to say about the boys.  I know this is only the 3rd week of school, so I'll pray for the same good and positive things to be said all the way through the last day!!!
They were happy to receive a visit from Papa last night, its been almost a month.  They are getting used to him being here more often than not.

I thought spaghetti was supposed to be a kid favorite...not with my boys!  Over the last few years we keep trying to get them to eat it and you'd think we were trying to feed them asparagus or pees or something.  They will, however, eat the pasta plain, with a little butter and parmesan cheese.  Tonight, Nate wouldn't even eat that, I only gave him the option of peanut butter and bread...he took it!
The third week of school is here and things seem to be smoothing out.  I'm not  constantly wondering what they are doing at every minute of their day... just about every hour or so ; )

Trying....... 08/14/2008

This week is proving to be a little more trying than last.  The tears have started to slowly come...a little more each day.  Dyl is a trooper, he is "in the mode", relinquished to the fact that he has many more years of school ahead, and goes with a smile.  The twins are no so agreeable though.  They are "spoiled" by the convenience of the homeschooling we did for kindergarten, or just being with mommy all day : )  I have to admit it is hard to let them go each morning  : (  So we are just going to try and do things to keep their minds off school in the evenings.  We took a walk last night (boys rode their bikes actually).  It was fun for all.  Dyl is kinda out of control on his bike, he was riding really fast and tried to transition from the steet to the sidewalk, while turning at the same time to try and avoid the tubular railing along one side of the sidewalk.  He couldn't quite pull it off, slammed into the railing.  Thankfully nothing was broke or battered, besides his ego.  He was very sore this morning though.  Maybe do something a little less physical tonight ; ) !!

We made it! 08/09/2008

The first week of school has come to pass, and we all survived.  Everybody has a renewed appreciation for the weekend, or "free days' as the boys say.  Maybe we'll take a swim, since its still too hot to be outside for any other reason.  And lots of video game playing I'm sure.  Hopefully we can interest them in some of the Olympic games....Dylan actually stayed up thru the end of the opening ceremonies to see the torch lighting, which was really cool btw.

So far, so good 08/06/2008

Well we are three days in and school is going great.  The boys all like their teachers.  The excitement of making new friends and seeing old friends, eating in the cafeteria, playing at RECESS, and even learning is bringing home smiles each day.  Now if this dang heat would go away, it would make the super long walk, all the way home ; ), a little more bearable.

Well the boys started school this week...all three of them!  And now they've left me with several hours a day to do something with MYSELF.  I couldn't think of anything better to do than make a website about them!!  Yes I already miss them.  I still haven't had the full experience of being home all alone (Kristof is keeping me company in my time of anxiety : )) but I'm sure it will take some getting used to when it finally does happen.  What's a mommy to do????
